I wouldn't know about this... I haven't used any henchies since the updates. I've PUG'd and and guild grouped all the way so far.

They still bunched up together due to fact all henchies shared one flag. So unless we get an update that gives us a formation for our henchman to get into, Hard Mode will be more of a ridiculous add-on.

My henchmen just got wiped in Bukdek Byway. Thankfully it occurred in the first mob we hit.

Hero AI is seriously screwed up right now.

I set Koss to "Defend" mode and watched him chase some Grawl halfway across the compass from his flag as they were patroling away.

I had Dunkoro set to "Avoid Combat". His response? Same as Koss; make a beeline for monsters that are retreating. I also notice that if he has any skills that heal other players but not the caster, like Word of Healing, he will not heal himself even if he has something like Orison. All he'd do is spam Healing Breeze until he ran out of MP, and then die.

The henchman/hero AI right now is completely uncontrollable in Hard Mode.

All hard mode missions I've done so far have been done with PuGs. I think hard mode practically forces you to use PuGs (which is good, I haven't been in a PuG in ages and it's nice to get that feeling of socialization again, and since hard mode is only available to folk who have beaten the campaign, there aren't so many jerks in said PuGs).

I think the henchies still have the same health or armor as their normal-mode counterparts. Something like that. Point is, Alesia draws attention more than ever, and dies in like 4 hits.

I thought that might be the case, until my own 60 AL monk was hit for about 230 damage from a Lightning Orb. Given that henchmen don't have the benefit of vigor runes, survivor insignias, or fortitude mods, they simply can't compete against these mobs specced up to 20 in their attributes.
